I feel that this is very true in my life because when someone is mean or rude I think of them as a mean or rude person, even if they are one of the best friends in the world. I have noticed that if I go to school and there is a new kid and I pretend to have a hard shell, they tend not to hang out with me, but when I am nice and friendly they ether want to hang out with me or are at least friendly to me.

I think that your deeds are your monuments from Mr. Brown's precepts means that people remember you for your deeds or how you act. So if you are nice and friendly to others that is how they will r ember you and that is also your reputation for the time. It is the same vice versa. It is also how people will most likely treat you.

I agree if you do something mean you will always be thought of as mean.If you are kind you will always be thought of as kind. If you do something that changes other people you will always be remembered for that.

I agree with you totally there, Talia. A kid bullied me at my old school and now I only remember him as a bully and not an intelligent human being.
Aurora

I really agree with that. You remember how people treat you. A kid bullied me at my other school, and now I only think of him as a bully, not and intelligent person. Nor do I want to remember him.

i believe that your deeds are your monuments means that people remember you for what you do. For example if you are the meanest kid in school that is what you will always be and how someone sees you. This is what I think your deeds are your monuments means.

Your Deeds Are Your Monuments. I think that means what you do (your deeds) are planted like a monument to label you. For example, if you are snotty, people will label you as smart mouthed and unfriendly. In Kendallvue (my kindergarten) one of the kids that nobody knew was named Zachary. He was nice, but he was kind of selfish and nobody stayed friends with him for long because they got tired of him. I hope he made more friends (I left for better adventures at Coronado), but if he got labeled as rude he should remember Your Deeds Are Your Monuments.

Interesting perspective, Noah. I completely agree with your definition of it and your Kindergarten story was a marvelous example to pull from to show how humans are labelled. Nice job!

"Your deeds are your monuments." I believe this means that you are remembered by your actions or words. For example, since Julian has yet to change his behavior, August will most likely remember him as a bully. If you want to remembered as a good person, make your deeds good one. That is what this quote means to me
Lexi

Oops! I forgot to put in an experience of mine. When I was in preschool, there was a boy named Luke who would bully me at recess. Last I remember, he was at this school. I have no idea what grade he's in, but oh well. So, after he bullied me, I would go to a supervisor and would ask them to stop him. They would just pretty much ignore me. I had to stick up for myself. So I did, but I really don't know if he is still a mean person today.

I strongly believe that "Your deeds are your monuments" is essentially when your values and actions are like erected statures of how you'll be remembered. This is employed to make outstanding distinctions that are memorable enough that you can understand the person's unique qualities. For instance, if you were to be critical and pretentious you would be labeled as arrogant and harsh. I recall this liberal, autonomous portion of my life when I was shy enough to be reserved, but wasn't afraid to take my own path. People thought I was disastrous and immature because I didn't really have a voice that concerned charismatic friendships. These people began singling me out for a completely berserk reason, and began proactively assaulting me with unforgiving arrogance. I was hurt, to say the least. This made me remember them as a sinister behemoths of barbarism, rooting my issue with submission.

I think “Your deeds are your monument” means that people connect the dots to you and your deeds so if you don’t have the nicest first and second encounters then you might be known as not the best person. Just like when Mrs. Jones was here and we talked about a person’s label. Also when people come up to me and are sassy and clingy to me I try to avoid them. Form a young age I have had a grudge with a person that I know and this year I told mom that they never change, from the previous years I gave them a monument for being rude instead of giving them the opportunity to change. So to sum it up I think “Your deeds are your monuments” is like saying people remember you by your actions.

"Your Deeds Are Your Moments" I think this means that your actions will be recognized, good actions, and bad ones. My example goes with my prediction of Julian doing or saying a really mean and hurtful thing to August. It goes with my theory because, what Julian might do or say is an action, a bad one and it will be recognized by August because he will probably feel really bad about what Julian might say or do.
Lexi

To me 'Your deeds are your monuments' means how you'll be remembered and saw. To me this precept means the deeds you do are the ones people judge your character by. First of all monuments are structures built to celebrate people or events. Unlike memorials that are like monuments but they're built or have plans for after the person death. I believe this precept is hinting at that not only will you be remembered for you're deeds but they matter now too. If you're a bad person you'll be judged now for it oppose to only later. For example, Julian will never be Auggie's friend because August knows what Julian's said to him. I believe this is important because oppose to people only remembering you when you die they matter now.
Mariah

Lexi I like how you used your knowledge about monuments vs memorials in how you understood the precept I would not have even thought about that thanks for opening up my eye to a different way of thinking.

I think that the precept "your deeds are your monuments" means to me every deed you do build on to the monument you leave on the world. For instance if you change schools you affect the people you left and the people you meet in you new class. In the long run every thing you do effects something.

I think the precept "your deeds are your monuments" means what you do for others is a lasting impression of you. I think this is a good precept to live by because the acts or things you do for others they will remember about you for a long time. I also think this is a precept to live by because I would rather have somebody think good of me than somebody think bad of me.

I think that your deeds are your monuments means that what you do represents who you are. for example, if you area nice person and help others you might get a monument that shows that you are a nice person. another example is that if you are a bully you will get a really bad reputation as the mean kid or something. You should be a good person!
Lexi
9/23/2015 02:25:16 pm
First off I loved how you said 'what you do represents who you are' because no one that I read phased it like that and I think that's incredible! Additionally, I enjoyed how even before our discussion about the word kind you wrote 'nice person and help' the word love there is 'and' because it says how I can be nice! It was great! Good job Jay!
Rebecca

I think the precept, your deeds are your monuments, means what you do is who you are. If you pick up someone's pencil for them that is a monument of you for the other person. That monument signifies that you are kind. It is the same thing with bad deeds. I believe that your deeds are your monuments means what you do is who you are. Comments are closed.
