Outdoor Lab Reminder: Just a few more weeks and we are Mt. Evans bound. Students have met as an entire 6th grade class to choose bunkmates, special interest classes, learn what to bring (and what not to bring), and have decorated their name tags. The results of all that planning will be revealed to students when we go over schedules the week before we go. I wanted to give parents a few reminders and make sure you have access to the packing list one more time.

A better, more reliable option is to give any letters you want delivered directly to me. Some parents send one letter for the week; others send a letter per day. No candy or toys can be included. I will start collecting mail anytime and make sure it’s packed and ready to go.
- We will leave the morning of May 15th and return the afternoon of May 19th. As we get closer, we will give you specific drop off and pick up details. We do get back on Friday about an hour before school is out and students are dismissed at that time so save the date. More details to come.
- If you want to send mail for your child directly to Mt. Evans, this is the week to do so. It can take a while for mail to make the trip.

- We will be having a 6th grade “Boot Day” on Friday, May 5th. Students should have their boots by this day. All 6th graders will be asked to wear their boots to school that day so we can practice having them on for an extended amount of time. We will be taking a little “hike” and making sure everyone has a good fit.
- Students have been taken through the packing list and been given a chance to ask questions regarding packing. This is a minimum packing list. While we are following the April- October requirements, you may choose to have your child pack some of the October-April items as May weather and temperatures can be unpredictable. For example: I plan on bringing a beanie to wear in the evenings as it might be chilly but I’ll have a ball camp by day. I will probably choose to bring a light pair of gloves, just in case. Please email me with any questions.
Schedule Reminders: How did we get here already? I realized last week that with between flex testing days and Outdoor Lab, I only have a couple of regular academic weeks left. Wow! Here are some important dates to know:
Hang in there! The end of the year is a whirlwind, but I sure am lucky to ride the ride with this group of students!
- April 28th- Early Release at 12:20 pm
- May 1st and 2nd- Flex Testing days, students come by appointment only
- May 11th- Field Day, Time TBA
- May 15-19th- Outdoor Lab at Mt. Evans
- May 24th- 6th Grade Continuation/Last Day of School 9:00 am
- Donations to help us put together a small reception after the ceremony. Consider donating ingredients for punch, cookies, napkins or cups.
- A parent/parents willing to create a slideshow of student photos. Parents from both 6th grade classes will email photos of their children. You would just need to put it together using a digital program of your choice. Ms. Yoxall and I will support in making sure their are photos of everyone and any questions are answered.
- After the continuation ceremony, students are completely done with school. They do not have to finish the day or return for the last day of school on the 25th. Traditionally a few parents have worked together to organize a celebratory all 6th grade event that takes place after continuation or on the following day. Some past events have been a 6th grade pool day or a trip to Elitch’s. Consider this volunteer opportunity if you like event planning (it doesn’t have to be extravagant). Although you would be in charge of deciding on the logistics, Ms. Yoxall and I will help by sending home information, collecting any forms, sending out SignUp Geniuses for other volunteers, etc.
